The Converse Jack Purcell was first released in 1935, after legendary Canadian badminton champion Jack Purcell was undefeated worldwide—and increasingly frustrated with the quality of badminton footwear, needed a special pair. In designing his own athletic shoe, Purcell created a canvas and rubber sneaker with a signature "smile" across its toe—a now-iconic celebration of personal style and casual refinement. This Converse Jack Purcell Ox features an olive green canvas upper with a contrasting white midsole and further black highlights.
