The story behind Michael Jordan’s days at Laney High School and his infamous “cut” from the team is one of the great stories in Sportswear history. How could arguably one of the greatest ever, in all sports, be cut in 1978 from his high school team? Back then, the team needed size, and Jordan who was 5’10 couldn’t provide it, so he wasn’t considered. Working all summer, while still growing, MJ was awarded a call to the Junior Varsity team a year later and the rest is history.

First seen in the year 2000, the Air Jordan 5 ”Laney” (a tribute to MJs high-school days) was an immediate hit. The white and yellow colorway dressing the legendary Air Jordan 5 was a perfect match. Later on, in 2013 they provided sneakerheads with the first-ever retro and they will be equally happy to see a new version of the Air Jordan 5 ”Laney” dropping now. Flipping the white leather base to a blue suede upper, the high-top basketball sneaker features yellow accents on the “23” embroidery, tongue, midsole and lining. A chenille Jumpman logo on the tongue finishes off this slightly changed Air Jordan 5 ”Laney” making it the 2019 version of the legendary sneaker.
