The Asics GEL-Lyte V was put out shortly after its predecessor the GEL-Lyte III in 1993. Just a little side-note, there is no GEL-Lyte IV because the number 4 is considered unlucky in Japan. Back to the GEL-Lyte V, the sleek running model was slimmer than other shoes and used a sock-like neoprene slip-on function. The mono-tongue was trending in the early ´90s so it was only right to put in on to the GEL-Lyte V. The midsole consists of P-Gel and GEL-Pads for better cushioning and an AHAR-Heel. Back in 2013 Asics brought the silhouette back and it is now stronger than ever.
In the collaboration between Asics, the Japanese retailer Monkey Time and Australian boutique Highs & Lows this Asics GEL-Lyte V is as sleek as it gets. The grey and black premium nubuck and breathable mesh upper are sitting atop of a comfy midsole with translucent checkerboard outsole.
