The GEL-Lyte III marks the third model in the GEL-Lyte series and has been the canvas for many collaborations over the last 20 years. Designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui the GEL-Lyte III introduced a split-tongue that gives a better-adjusted fit to the foot and was back in 1990 an absolute game-changer. The triple-density sole and GEL cushioning with its visible GEL unit were further winning features of the running silhouette.
If you like Sushi, chances are high that you might dig some Wasabi too. To honor the spicy herb British retailer End Clothing and Asics took inspiration from the Japanese accompaniment to traditional Japanese sushi and designed the “Wasabi” GEL-LYTE III. The seafoam green upper is made from pigskin nubuck and takes inspiration from the green color of the herb. The Asics stripes come in grey resembling the rocky area where typically Wasabi grows. The pink highlights reflect the mix of Wasabi and Sashimi and the pickled ginger. Rounded-off is this collaboration by the split tongue and GEL cushioning as well as Japanese brandings on the tongue.
