The Marathon 88 was originally launched in 1988 and is associated with marathon runner Rob de Castella. It was one of the top long distance models of adidas’ running range, featuring high quality materials such as light-weight Clarino synthetic suede and different densities of foam in the mid-sole to aid the natural foot strike of the wearer. The Marathon 88 took the ‘tech running’ elements of the time and developed the classic ‘Marathon’ silhouette into a streamlined running shoe for the runner elite.
