The Van Doren Rubber Company as Vans original name was, has been manufacturing shoes with a rubber sole since 1966. Just like their long time competitor Converse and the Chuck Taylor's All-Star shoe, Vans stick to the simple and genius vulcnaized rubber sole. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.
